Welcome to the Deane School 

 

The Deane School is dedicated to teaching the proper fundamentals in dance and performance , as well as an appreciation of dance as a fine art, not a competitive discipline.  Our guiding principle is that dance is of prime importance to the physical and cultural development of the student. Our mission is to elevate the physical, as well as the poise, self-esteem and confidence of the individual.

 

Unlike factory schools that coax children into expensive and time consuming competitions where quality is measurable by participation trophies and not true art, the Deane School trains its students to learn the technique, poise, and comportment that not only benefits their art, but also lasts a lifetime. 
 

All children should have the advantage of dance training from the standpoint of health, demeanor, posture, coordination, and rhythm.  The Deane School offers instruction for students aged three to adult in disciplines of ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, and lyrical.

Deane School also periodically offers master classes with luminaries in the dance world. Recent ballet master classes featured Marina Van Winkle, Eugenia Zinovieva, Dusty Button, Laura Young, Alan Alberto and Emily Loscocco.

We are the Official school of the Greater Milford Ballet Company, which was founded by the legendary Georgia Deane in 1979. Since then, we have staged 42 productions of the Nutcracker, as well as Cinderella, the Sousa Suite, Studio to Stage, among others.
